Bicycle Radio

Daylight Saving Time is in effect ya’ll! That means for you on the Pacific Coast you’ll now be joining us “LIVE” at 6pm, Mountain folks at 7:00, Central at 8:00, and The ”Right Coast” at 9:00 (Yea! an hour earlier for most of you!).

This week we take a step back to appreciate what’s at the heart of Bicycle Radio and that of course is the BICYCLE! Cycling goes beyond shaved legs and power training, and this week we talk with Amy Walker from Momentum Magazine, a publication going way beyond to provide urban cyclists with the inspiration, information and resources to fully enjoy their riding experience and connect with local and global cycling communities. This is gonna be cool! Go check ‘em out ahead of time and have your questions ready!

With Cyclocross season in full swing we’ll check back in with Brook Watts who will recap this weekends worth of mayhem and racing, breaking it down for us play-by-play. Checking in with us also will be the “Godfather of cross bloggers”, the “king of the holeshot”, the “master of social networking”….Greg Keller of  www.mudandcowbells.com, the one blog that’s required daily reading by all cross fans.  Look for some fun talk about blogging, the cross scene in the U.S. versus the “motherland” of Belgium and balancing “real life”, work and cycling. Brook also has a couple of predictions for you to take to the bookie this weekend…. Here we go!

Hoogstraten - Belgium - Superprestige - Nys is back on top, the Cannibal of Baal is rejuvenated and will win the 2nd round of the Superprestige.  The question is will Niels Albert hang in there for 2nd?

Closer to home, literally a few miles from my doorstep.  The North American Cyclocross Trophy Series makes its Colorado stop and with ONLY 3 inches of snow accumulated I’m saying the forecast for a foot or more of snow is a bust.  By race time this weekend it’ll be sunny and the courses tacky at worst.

Saturday is the Blue Sky Velo Cup in Longmont.  The duel we’ve come to expect between the Kona twin towers and the triple threat of the Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com team will be lopsided with the absence of Barry Wicks who is staying close to home.  That leaves Trebon to do battle alone.   Tim Johnson is itching to pull the NACT leaders jersey on so I pick him for the win.

On Sunday the scene shifts 15 miles away for the Boulder Cup, we’ve seen both Trebon and Johnson win on the Harlow Platts Park course, I give the edge again to either Johnson or a teammate given their strength in numbers–maybe Jamey Driscoll or Jeremy Powers will take the victory.  Either way I see a weekend sweep of the top podium spot by the guys in green.

So take them for what it’s worth and when you lose your bikes savings on these bets give Brook a holler and let him know what you think.

Bicycle Radio’s Jerri Manley will be starting week number 3 of her “So You Think You Can Race” training schedule brought to by Liquid Fitness‘ Josh Horowitz. He’ll have the full report and update on her progress, plus a  tip or two for those following along at home and online. In addition to her training adventures and updates she has a great “News From The Bike-Be-Gone Trail” segment lined up for you too including detail from Brian Hodes on this years World AIDS Day Rides.

Not to be left out either is Efraim Rojas! Serving up your “Weekly Dose of Pro”. I don’t know how he does it every week, but guaranteed to have the latest scoop and dirt from within the pro peloton. For a peek at what he has to offer you can usually follow him here!

And of course DJ Brian Ellison kicks of the “The Prologue,” 40 minutes of pre-show music bringing you requests for Falco, a new track from The National Rifle, and more. He’ll also have some inside details on open contests and this weeks schwag “tweet-a-ways” to happen throughout the coming week. Don’t miss out! And PLEASE… Something you’d like to hear? Let us know! Doesn’t mean we’ll play it, but we’ll certainly consider it, if it’s cool!

Make sure you tune in because we’re also giving away tickets for “RIDE! The Event” in LA and Encore tickets for Race Across the Sky!

All this and more…. Don’t forget! Join the conversation by calling 877.919.LIVE or send us your emails to LIVE@bicycleradio.com. See you Tuesday, “LIVE” at 7:00pm (MST)….. Stay tuned!
